Mildura & Murray Marketplace

Marketplacer is a global technology Software as a Service (SaaS) platform which enables customers to create and transform into marketplaces.

In a modern world, retailers, brands, distributors, franchises and communities are implementing marketplace strategies that scale beyond physical store and inventory holdings. They are implementing strategies such as shipment from drop-ship sellers, adding new categories, third party range extension, consolidating markets and rolling out modern revenue models like recurring memberships. By partnering with Marketplacer customers save time and scale faster.

By MRD utilising Marketplacer, we will form an online store where local businesses, growers and producers can list and sell their products to visitors locally but also nationally. This platform can increase in demand for product, engage businesses to have an online presence and help connect with the existing ‘Australian Food Bowl’ that our region is commonly known for.

Mildura & wentworth light installation - Tourism product development

Mildura Regional Development (MRD) sought a business case feasibility study and outlined the overall economic return for the investment required by local councils for a light show hero tourism product for the region.

MRD would like to consider the development of two light shows in the region based on the highly successful ‘Field of Light’ concept as developed by Artist Bruce Munro.

Show 1: Based in Victoria (Mildura) the show will include aspects of the Murray River the local heritage and natural environmental aspects.

Show 2: Based in NSW (Wentworth region) the light show will have an Indigenous element along with other regional themes.

The overall objective for the project is to grow and enhance the visitor economy (tourism) by way of encouraging new visitors and extending length of stay by 1+ nights. The new attraction aims to:

  • Attract more visitors to the new region from both the local regional catchment area and from the key capital city markets including Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide
  • Extend the length of stay for new visitors and returning visitors
  • Invest in infrastructure and attractions that will significantly appeal to tourists, visitors and the business traveller market
  • Enhance the liveability for the local community and thereby also improve the overall appeal of Mildura as destination to visit, live and invest.

‘START HERE’ VIDEO CAMPAIGN

Our new ‘Start Here’ video campaign is now airing on TV/digital (Adelaide and Regional Victoria) and via a targeted social media campaign (selected capital cities, regional areas and New Zealand), enticing people to start their post-COVID holiday journey here in the Mildura region, when they’re ready. The imagery and spoken words focus on our regional city vibes being just moments away from beautiful natural experiences, wide open spaces, bold night skies and the mighty Murray River. Delivered in an emotive and sensitive style to reflect the current circumstances and respect how people might be feeling about travel at the moment, we hope this gently puts our region at the top of people’s minds when choosing their holiday destination. A huge thank you to I SEE I HEAR and Hawkeye Photography – Aaron Hawkins: Photographic Artist for the incredible vision, enhanced by the voiceover of Love Your Sister Founder and Logie Award Winning Aussie Actor, Samuel Johnson.

Mallee Track Art Trail

The Mallee Track is an iconic part of the Mildura region, known for its agricultural production and deep history.

The art and visual technology trail is a project aimed at integrating some of the established art mediums, such as Silos, with other forms of technology such as Virtual and Augmented reality to lead travellers on a journey of the pioneering history and links to remembering the contribution of its residents to defending the nation.

This project combines a number of important contributing partners, such as the RSL and Victorian and Australian State Governments in recognising the region as an important contributor to the protection of the Nations values, commemorating via the profiling of some of those stories and linking to some amazing art and technology.
